What Can I Say?

Never Give Up
3/19/2008

Back? Yes, I AM

Surprise? Maybe. I'm back, actually I'm back to my space, to my friends here. How have you been? I'm still alive, and growing up. From now on, I will take time off to write something happened around me. Take some pictures, keep my mind clear.

Time flies. Things change. As the new start of my space, I want to give my blessing to my parents, my friends and everyone who loves me and whom I love. First blessing, of course, is to my parents, I love you and you are the most important people in my life, even though you can't read English, I can know you will feel this. My sisters and brother, how are you? E-mail me if you have time. Then to my friends, so so so many friends I want to give my best wishes to, sorry if I don't mention your names, that doesn't mean I forget you, if you see this, remind me. Ok, start, I'm so lucky that I met many new friends while I'm in the Netherlands. Liu Yuan, Li Qin, Bao Fuchen, Duan Xuchen, Martin, Sheran, Xu Jun, Qingyi, Jingxi, Xia Meng, Han Shuang......and all friends from church, even I can't say your names, but you guys make me not feel lonely abroad. I am not a believer, but I always regard this church as a big family, full of love, God will bless you all. After I came here, I can't contact my friends in China frequently, sometimes I can get some news, someone got married, someone got baby, someone got girlfriends, big changes, hope our friendship will not change forever. Here I have to mention one of my best friends, Wang Dongliang, how are you recently? Have new girlfriend? And I'm not gonna forget friends I know from internet, space and GGD, even I don't know your real names, same best wishes to you. I hope you still remember me--IceMan_ZerG

That's all for today, this afternoon Xiao Jun and Qingyi will come to have dinner. And hope I can get good news from my company.

Rietveld Schröder House

The Rietveld Schröder House is a world famous monument of 20th-century architecture. In 2000 Unesco added it to its World Heritage List. Utrecht architect and designer Gerrit Thomas Rietveld (1888 – 1964) build the house in 1924. Mrs. Truus Schröder-Schräder lived in it from this year until her death in 1984.

STIJL COLORS
The house was built in accordance with the architectural principles of De Stijl movement. Rietveld used the typical Stijl colors: red, blue and yellow, combined with white, gray and black. He and Mrs. Schröder also designed the interior and the furniture. All in the same color scheme. Until 1933 Rietveld had a studio in the house and he lived in here in the final six years of his life.

SLIDING WALLS
The house was to be a showcase of ultra-modern design. To achieve this, common architectural standards were disregarded. Mrs. Schröder, for example, preferred to live on the first floor in a flexible area. This is why the various rooms, with the exception of the bathroom and the staircase, are separated from each other by loose sliding walls. This enabled her to change the layout of this floor in accordance with her wishes.

CENTRAL MUSEUM
The Rietveld Schröder house is a part of the Central Museum in Utrecht. This museum also manages the sizable Rietveld collection. A visit to the Rietveld Schröder House takes approximately one hour. You will enjoy a guided tour of the house and see a video on Rietveld in the information center.

Busy.........

I have no internet in my house now, so I can't update my space. I'm in the campus of UU, so just upload some pictures of my house. Maybe later I can connect with the network company to get internet.

I feel good in Utrecht, just the distance between my house and campus, just here, is a little too long. But it doesn't matter, the city is much smaller than those in China. So with bicycles, we can enjoy the life here....

My roommate whose name is Leeking is very kind, we are good friends now.

OK, it's time for the meeting about our programme.....See you....

Update after exam!!

The City I'm Going To

Utrecht is a sparkling city.
You can attend a festival or event. Culture lovers find their way in museums, the City-theatre and
Vredenburg. Going out in Utrecht is always sociable.

Utrecht is the fourth largest city of the Netherlands,
with a population over 0.25 million. Utrecht’s central location in the Netherlands makes it an attractive city to live in and a favourite
enterprise location.

Utrecht has a rich history that goes back to the beginning of our calendar. The old inner-city, with its canals and cellars by the wharves, ancient churches, and of course the
Dom tower, give the city a distinctive character.

Utrecht is a centre of learning.
Utrecht University is the largest in the Netherlands. More than 60,000 students are enrolled in higher education in Utrecht. As such, the composition of its population is rather young and Utrecht has the highest educated labour force in the Netherlands.

Utrecht is on the move.
Apart from plans to redevelop the
area around the Central Station, Utrecht is building the largest housing area in the country (on one of the so-called Vinex locations). More than 30,000 houses will be completed in the district of Leidsche Rijn in the coming years, housing about 73,000 people. Utrecht’s population will increase to about 340,000 in 2020.

World Cup 2006

World Cup is coming finally. There is no reason to ignore this huge event, even though you know nothing about soccer before.

For me, maybe it's the last time that I can watch World Cup freely at home. Cause after 1 year I'll be busy working and have no time. And unfortunately, this time I have to watch it alone and keep quiet all the time, for my parents must sleep when I'm watching.

I support Brazil and England, Ronaldinho and Beckham are both my icons.

I'm Back

Hi, ladies and gentalmen, how you doing these days?

I've not updated my space for almost 1 month. At the beginning it's because I was busy preparing documents of VISA application, and then bought some books about maths and started to learn Dutch.

Everything seems OK. During Labor's Day, played soccer and hanged out with my friends, the feeling was amazing.

These days I wanna write something suddenly, but cannot sign in, so does my mom's. I don't know why....

That's all, it's my present situation. Hope everyone will be happy.

At last let's say goodbye to Zidane and look forward to his last performance in World Cup 2006.

Study Time

Do you have some problems with your study? Or do you know what to do when you want to have some changes? Here is some experience and suggestion, hope to be helpful.

Make A Plan
It sounds easy to write a study plan on the paper, but it's hard to do everyday as planned. I don't know whether you've made a plan before, but I know each successful person has his own plan.

Use Your Time Effectively
Are you a morning person or a night-hawk? Are you sleepy and distracted after lunch?

Try to schedule study time during your peaks. Don't waste time when you're less mentally alert - use it to accomplish simple, routine tasks.

Develop Your Concentration
How long is your concentration span? Find out by recording your start time when you read from a textbook or other course readings. As soon as your mind begins to drift, record the time again.

One way to improve your concentration is by reading actively: try using a highlighter, making notes of significant points in a notebook, recording questions about items you don't understand, trying to predict what will be on the next page and connecting what you're reading with other things you've read.

Deal with Distractions
Sometimes it seems that distractions are coming at you from all sides, and probably they are. Distractions may be internal - the wanderings of your own mind, or external/environmental. Learning to manage both types is essential.

Be aware of your optimal study conditions and use this awareness to reduce distractions in the environment. Do you have enough light to read without straining? How is the temperature? Are there other people around?

I know they're not enough,  but I'm sure you'll feel better after reading. Good luck.

The One - 10 Questions to Ask Yourself

Is he the one? Here's ten questions to ask yourself to find out if he is truly the one or just one of many.

1. Is it love or infatuation?

There's nothing wrong with infatuation, except that it can be short lived. Ask yourself whether or not your feelings run deeper than passion and infatuation. If he's truly the one, you'll know it's love you feel in your heart.

2. Are there any deal breakers?

Are there any aspects to your relationship that are truly deal breakers? If so, make sure you're facing the situation, not pretending it will go away after you make the ultimate commitment.

3. Do you love him for the right reasons?

Love is a great reason to get married, but is this the reason you want to stay together? Make sure your intentions are clear. If the relationship is more about money, or you're on the rebound, it's time to rethink your approach.

4. Do you have a long term plan together?

Do you regularly talk about the future? If the relationship is meant to be, you should be openly discussing your finances, family, children, religion, etc. If these topics are not on the table, ask yourself why?

5. Can you live with his flaws?

Everyone has a few flaws, nobody is perfect. Make sure you're clear on the parts of his personality that bug you. Once you know the issues, ask yourself whether or not you can live with them for the rest of your life?

6. Does your mind drift to someone else?

In those moments when you're alone and your mind wanders, who do you think about? If it's him, then he's probably the one. If you're still thinking about a former flame or a new guy you just met, then ask yourself whether your current boyfriend is really the one for you?

7. Do you share the same values?

It's okay if your personalities are completely different. In fact, complimentary personalities can often be a better long term fit than two very similar people. However, you'll want to make sure you share the same underlying values around morals, family, and other deep rooted topics.

8. How does he make you feel?

Do you feel like a better person or a worse person when you're around him? If he's truly the one, he should make you feel beautiful inside and out when you're together. If instead he makes you feel ugly, worthless, desperate, etc., then there's a problem.

9. Does he put you first?

If each of you focuses on giving to the other 100% of the time then everyone is giving and everyone is getting. Does he think of you before his job, his buddies, his dog? You'll want to understand where you fit in his list of life priorities.

10. Do you want to spend the rest of your life with him?

The rest of your life can seem like a really long time. It will seem even longer if you marry the wrong person. Think about what it means to wake up alongside this man every morning. Does it put a smile on your face, or make you wonder who else is out there?

Overcome Procrastination

Whether you're working or are going to work, procrastination can hurt your career. Your boss expects you to complete projects on time and to keep up with even the most tedious aspects of your job. Procrastination can keep you from doing your job well and leave your boss dissatisfied with your performance. Here are five things you can do to help you overcome procrastination.

Reward Yourself for Not Procrastinating: Give yourself a small reward after you complete a boring task. If you know a coffee and cookie break is waiting for you when you are finished doing something tedious, you will be inspired to get it done.

Make Procrastination Unnecessary: You may put off a large project because it seems overwhelming. Break Large Projects into small chunks. Dividing a big job into a series of smaller tasks will make it seem less overwhelming.

Prioritize the Tasks That Cause You to Procrastinate: List the things you've been putting off from most to least important, or in order of when each item needs to be completed. Cross off items as you go.

Don't Give Yourself an Excuse to Procrastinate: You may put off starting a task because you don't think you'll have enough time to finish it. For example you have ten minutes left until you can go home. Use the little time you have to do something that will only take a few minutes, such as putting away files. Before you know it, you will get all those short, annoying tasks done.

Find a "Procrastinating Buddy": Partner with a co-worker who also procrastinates. Find tasks you both have that will take the same amount of time to do. Plan to meet for a cup of coffee or a short chat when you have completed those tasks.

<Bonus Point> procrastinate: delay or postpone action

Oscar Fashion 2006: 10 Best Looks

Best Overall Look: Keira Knightley

It's not just that Keira Knightley is indescribably gorgeous: it's that she carries dresses so well and makes great fashion choices.

The dark eggplant taffeta Vera Wang dress she wore at the Oscars signaled a fashion moment (Vera Wang's spring runway was full of darkly romantic spring clothes: a fashion oddity for the season)

Keira paired the dress with a multi-colored Bulgari necklace from the '60s. Her lighter, strawberry-blonde hair, pulled into a high bow-enhanced ponytail, and smokey eyes were a series of disparate looks. But the end result was young and fresh.

Best Golden Girl: Jessica Alba

From her elegant updo to her golden embroidered Versace dress, Jessica Alba was every inch the golden girl. Even her skin had a golden hue (but it looked natural, not fake, as in spray-on tans).……

Busy Days

I know almost all young friends have already watched this MV. But the wonderful thing can be appreciated forever, right?

These days I'm busy studying GMAT, so I haven't enough time to choose a new attractive topic to write. Please forgive me, anyway I always remember you. No matter what you are doing, studying or working, take care of yourself and don't forget me. I'll visit your space anytime when I'm free.

Wish my cousin Grace adapt quickly to the new environment in Sydney. Good luck to everybody.

Artistic Habitus

In our day, natural gift is lightly taken for art itself, especially if it is covered over with facile faking and a voluptuous medley of colors. However, natural gift is only a prerequisite condition for art, or again a rough outline of the artistic habitus. This inborn disposition is clearly indispensable; but without cultivation and a discipline which, as the ancient held, should be long and patient and honest, it will never develop into art properly speaking. Thus art, like love, proceeds from a spontaneous instinct, and it must be cultivated like friendship; for it is a virtue like friendship.

Saint Thomas points out that the natural dispositions through which one individual differs from another have their root in the physical dispositions of the body; they concern our sense faculties, in particular the imagination, the chief purveyor of art—which thus appears as the gift par excellence by which the artist is born—and which the actresses gladly make their main faculty, because it is so intimately bound up with the activity of the creative intellect that it is difficult in the concrete to distinguish the one from the other. But the virtue of art involves an improvement of the mind; moreover, it imprints on the human being an incomparably deeper quality than do the natural dispositions.

Women's Wearable Spring Fashion Trends

Dresses for Every Occasion

You already know dresses are key for special events and after-five, but this season you'll want to turn to dresses for everything from work to weekend wear.

Leading the dress pack is the shirt dress, an easy look for most offices and universally flattering (the collar and button-front draw attention to your face, the belted waist gives you shape, and the full skirt hides a heavy lower body).

Jersey knit dresses are another great look for spring and summer. The beautiful drape of jersey allows dresses to caress your body without being skintight. With jersey, you'll need to eliminate seams and pantylines because bumps and lumps do show; try a one-piece bodyslimmer or seamless lingerie.

Shorts

Shorts rule for warm weather, and they even take on casual work places when worn with matching jackets.

Longer-length shorts -- a.k.a. bermudas, walking shorts, skimmers -- look best in a slim cut (beware cuffs: they add weight). ……

11 Steps For Updating Your Creativity

If you want your life to have some changes, I think these suggestions are helpful.

1. Listen to music by Johann Sebastian Bach. If Bach doesn't make you more creative, you should probably see your doctor—or your brain surgeon if you are also troubled by headaches, hallucinations or strange urges in the middle of the night.

2. Brainstorm. If properly carried out, brainstorming can help you not only come up with sacks full of new ideas, but can also help you decide which is best.

3. Regular Fresh Input. The mind needs stimulation. How do we get new input? Do something new each day. Listion to different radio stations, read or borrow different magazines, take a stroll through a shopping centre. Keep your eyes and ears open, and taste, touch and smell things.

4. Always carry a small notebook and a pen or pencil around with you. That way, if you are struck by an idea, you can quickly note it down. Upon rereading your notes, you may discover about 90% of your ideas are draft. Don't worry, that's normal. What are important are the 10% that are brilliant.

5. If you're stuck for an idea, open a dictionary, randomly select a word and then try to formulate ideas incorporating this word. You'd be surprised how well this works. The concept is based on a simple but little known truth: freedom inhibits creativity. There is nothing like restrictions to get you thinking.

6. Define your problem. Grab a sheet of paper, electronic notebook, computer or whatever you use to make notes, and define your problem in detail. You'll probably find ideas positively spewing out once you've done this.

7. If you can't think, go for a walk. It's important to give yourself time to unwind and let your subconscious mind do its work. A change of atmosphere is good for you and gentle exercise helps shake up the brain cells.

8. Don't watch TV. Experiments have showed that watching TV causes your brain to slowly trickle out your ears and/or nose. It's not pretty, but it happens.

9. Adopt a genius. You can benefit by learning from the lives, ideas and actions of the great geniuses of history. Adopt a role model—maybe Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso, Einstein, T. S. Eliot, Thomas Edison, Bill Gates, Donald Trump and Hannibal(not Lecter!).

10. Read as much as you can about everything possible. Books exercise your brain, provide inspiration and fill you with information that allows you to make creative connections easily.

11. Exercise your brain. Brains, like bodies, need exercise to keep fit. If you don't exercise your brain, it will get flabby and useless. Exercise your brain by reading a lot(see above), talking to clever people and disagreeing with people—arguing can be a terrific way to give your brain cells a wokout. But note, arguing about politics or film directors is good for you, bickering over who should clean the dishes is not.
